With growing shortages across UK food banks this week amidst falling donations, staff at Warwick Castle have been working hard to deliver food to locals in need at Warwick Food Bank.

Since closing the attraction last week, the team have been ensuring all food orders are given to the important local cause.

Recipients at the food bank commented on how grateful visitors had been, with some even on the verge of tears at having had food in stock.

“It is now more important than ever for us to support our local communities during these difficult times,” explains  Nick Blofeld, Divisional Director at Warwick Castle.

“All the team at Warwick Castle are passionate and dedicated to supporting the local community, so we were grateful to have been able to contribute at such a crucial time.”

The team donated a large variety of essential produce to support the local community including fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy, juices, bread and cereal.

“We are living through strange times and there are a lot of worried people out there,” said David Witham, Chair of the Trustees at Warwick District Food Bank.

“The look of delight on the faces of those suffering extreme hardship conveys how much they appreciate the assistance we are able to give. It is the generosity of people like this which makes our work possible.”

The Warwick Castle team continue to focus on ensuring they support the local community as much as possible during the isolation period.
