The British Motor Museum participated in the government ‘Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme’ which ran from 9 – 13 August offering free places for children aged 8 - 12. Up to 15 children per day took part in a wide range of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) workshops.

Children had the chance to spark their curiosity and become an Energy Apprentice by learning all about power and inventions through the amazing collections at the Museum. During the week the children were also joined by Kineton STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) who provided a daily 60 minute exercise routine.

School holidays can be pressure points for families because of increased costs and reduced incomes, which can lead to a holiday experience gap. The programme aims for children who participate to eat more healthily, be more active and take part in engaging and enriching activities. Funding to cover costs for materials, staffing and meals was provided by the Department of Education and the programme was supported by Warwickshire County Council.

Emma Rawlinson, Family & Lifelong Learning Officer said “This fun and immersive programme provided entertainment and creative activities for a fabulous group of children. It is great to be involved in this worthwhile and successful programme and to be able to give something back to our local community.”
