About

West Midlands Railway - Responsible travel starts here.

To help you travel safely, West Midlands Railway are running as many trains as they can, with as many carriages as possible to maximise space on board. You can also do your bit, by maintaining your distance whenever possible, buying your tickets online, travelling at a quieter time, and allowing extra time for your journey as station layouts may have changed. But, most importantly, wear a face covering at all times – unless you are exempt. Responsible travel starts here.

The West Midlands region is thriving right now, and we’re here to help that continue. Our enormous investment programme will bring improved stations, better journeys and our entire train fleet will be upgraded. It’s not a quick job, trust us, if we could do it faster we would. Type your station in on this page to see what’s changing for the December timetable and beyond.

Key improvements happening over the next couple of years:

  • £700 million spent on new trains and sprucing up older ones
  • 100 new carriages on the Cross City Line (between Lichfield and Longbridge with the route extended to Bromsgrove)
  • Compensation if the train is delayed by more than 15 minutes
  • Free Wi-Fi

There are so many other improvements to look forward to, including smart ticketing, smarter stations, better platform facilities, as well as more car and cycle parking spaces.
