About

Shakespeare Distillery founded, in 2015, by Simon Picken and Peter Monks. Located in Stratford-Upon-Avon, their mission is to craft truly delicious spirits, with a twist of history.

Taking inspiration from the Tudor herb garden, they fuse together complex, and often forgotten, botanicals with modern distilling equipment to produce exceptionally smooth real craft gins.

There has been an explosion in the UK craft gin market, with a large diversity in flavours and styles emerging, often with a high sugar content masking the true flavour of the spirit. Yet, they believe there is still a strong affection and appreciation for true gin. Hence, they ensure all their products are beautifully crafted by hand in small batches with the finest ingredients ensuring the true flavours of gin are present in all their spirits.

Shakespeare Distillery hold environmental consciousness as a core value of their business. Distillation is traditionally a very energy and water intensive process, however Shakespeare Distillery’s stills ‘Portia’ and ‘Ophelia’ are state-of-the-art and are designed to minimise energy and water usage. They also reuse and repurpose materials wherever they can, from boxes, to bottles, to botanicals.

At their distillery site, situated on Drayton Manor Drive just off the Alcester Road, they have created a wonderful visitor experience. The distillery is open to the public for tours, as well as a weekly ‘Gin School’ where visitors can distil their own unique gin! Furthermore, their distillery shop contains limited editions of special spirits which you can try nowhere else.

Warwickshire is the home of British gin: Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, and resident of Kenilworth Castle, was the first to bring juniper-based spirits to these Isles. So, why not come visit them for yourselves, and try real craft gin, with a twist of history.
