The Commandery is a beautiful building and garden where you can encounter the past brought to life...
Set in the heart of historic Worcester, The Commandery is most famous for being the Royalist Headquarters during the deciding battle of the English Civil War – the Battle of Worcester of 1651.
The Commandery is the perfect place for a family day out – get to know your fearsome weapons, discover historic displays, and become an explorer in the spacious walled gardens. Experience a pivotal moment in English history in the interactive exhibition Worcester's Civil War Story, discover wood-panelled Tudor rooms, and marvel at the medieval Great Hall and beautifully preserved Painted Chamber.
Round off your visit at the popular independent canal-side café on site, Commandery Coffee, which serves delicious home-made food, artisan coffee, and loose-leaf teas.
The Commandery has an exciting programme of events all year - from spooky after-dark tours in autumn to fun family activities in the school holidays. There's also an escape room - Commandery Quest - in the attic!
