The Grand Hotel Birmingham

The iconic building will be lit up in a sea of colour to mark the re-opening of hospitality

Hospitality businesses in England can reopen for customers indoors on Monday 17 May. To mark the milestone The Grand Hotel Birmingham will light up its iconic façade in a sea of colours from sunset on Thursday 13th May until sunrise Monday 17 May. The hotel will open its doors, revealing its £45million restoration and refurbishment, to the public on Tuesday 18 May.

Peter Kienast, General Manager of The Grand Hotel Birmingham, saidThis has been the most testing time the hospitality industry has ever faced. The lighting up of The Grand Hotel not only marks the return of this landmark building; it is also our way of welcoming people back to Birmingham as the city's fantastic bars, restaurants and hotels finally get back to business.”

Housed in one of Birmingham's most iconic buildings on Colmore Row, the luxury hotel is a Grade II* listed building. Retaining the building's French Renaissance exterior, Victorian and Arts & Crafts features the restoration also includes a new penthouse suite with spectacular views across St Phillip's Cathedral and the city beyond. Interior design by Robert Angell Design International reflects the passion and spirit of contemporary Birmingham, whilst paying homage to the building's stunning original features and history.

Guests will be able to stay in one of the hotel’s 185 guest rooms and suites and to meet and drink in Madeleine, the hotel’s glamorous cocktail bar;  Afternoon Tea will be served in Madeleine every Wednesday to Saturday, priced £29 including a glass of Champagne, from Wednesday 26th May. Other features include a hotel gym, the stunning Grand Ballroom, and nine additional meeting & event spaces. From June, guests will also be able to book a table in the hotel's brasserie-style restaurant.
