Winner of the Guardian Family Friendly award, this stunning FREE museum offers a wealth of hands-on opportunities to learn more about the history of Coventry.
In all eight of our permanent galleries you'll find state of the art interactives which will help you and your young-ones learn more about the collections and why they're important, award-winning exhibitions, a packed events programme and a café selling delicious food and drinks.
Our visual arts collection is held in three galleries; the Sculpture Gallery, Old Masters and Art Since 1900. To find out about the history of Coventry take a look in the History Gallery or our Peace and Reconciliation Gallery. Learn about the legend that made Coventry famous in Discover Godiva or come face to face with nature and natural history in Elements. What's in Store gives you the chance to delve a little deeper into our collections and Connected displays the items that were chosen by the people of Coventry to be showcased.
We also boast four temporary exhibition spaces which have housed Herbert curated exhibitions, touring exhibitions from some of the most famous and well-respected museums in Britain and showings from local groups, societies and schools.
If you wish to find out more about what the city has to offer, The Herbert is also home to the Coventry Tourist Information Centre.

By RoadTo Coventry inner ring-road, turn off at Junction 3 or 5 and follow the brown signs for Museum. There are several Pay & Display car parks available within walking distance. For directions using sat-nav or route planners use the postcode CV1 5QP. Alternatively a park and ride service for the city centre is operated from War Memorial Park, Kenilworth Road in the south of the City and from Austin Drive, Courthouse Green in the north.
By RailTo Coventry station then a 10 - 15 minute walk into the city centre. Buses and taxis are also available from the railway station.By BusMost buses terminate at Pool Meadow bus station in the city centre. The Museum is approximately 5 minutes walk away. By CanalCoventry Canal Basin is located just outside the city centre. There is a footbridge over the inner ring-road and the Herbert is 10 - 15 minutes walk away through the city centre.By AirCoventry and Birmingham International Airports are within easy travelling distance with connections by rail from Birmingham International station direct to Coventry.By BicycleThe Herbert Art Gallery and Museum is close to the National Cycle Network. To find the nearest cycling and walking route view the Sustrans map for the area.Information for people with Disabilities:Parking for Blue Badge holders is on Bayley Lane, opposite the entrance to the Herbert.
